Bill McShane

Songwriter Bill McShane was weaned on ‘80s pop anthems. From a young age he was entranced by the undeniable magic of pop melodies, big hooks, and even bigger choruses. These days, McShane bounces around the stage like a child on a pogo stick, Fender Strat slung across his neck and horn rimmed glasses struggling to hold on to the bridge of his nose — a constantly moving entity of manic rock energy. His sweet-as-sugar and smooth-as-ice vocal stylings recall the finer points of Elvis Costello and Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo. His guitar work is a seamlessly executed blend of four chord power pop and stinging rock leads.

While no longer a full time touring musician, McShane has trekked across the entire U.S. many times over as singer/guitarist and chief songwriter for the band Ultimate Fakebook. With an album released on Epic/Sony 550 Music and three others on independent labels, McShane and the band toured with such heavyweights as The Get Up Kids, At the Drive In, Fall Out Boy, Dashboard Confessional, Saves The Day, Nada Surf, MxPx, and Sloan.

More recently, McShane wrote the songs for a new project featuring members of Motion City Soundtrack and Limbeck called The Pride of Erie PA. Named after the fictional band The Wonders from the movie ‘That Thing You Do!’, they have released a 6 song EP and are currently prepping their debut full length record.

McShane now splits his time working as a movie trailer editor for major motion pictures and creating original musical works for use in entertainment marketing. Recent licenses include cues included in the domestic trailers for ‘Warm Bodies’ (Warner Bros) and ‘Hello, My Name Is Doris’ (Roadside Attractions) as well as promos for the FX Network comedy ‘Legit.’
