Derek Wells

A native of Nashville, Derek Wells is a first call multi-instrumentalist and producer. As a session musician, Wells has performed on over 100 certified number 1 songs from a diverse list of artists that include: Post Malone, Maren Morris, Morgan Wallen, Dolly Parton, Kenny Chesney, Shakira, Blake Shelton, P!nk, Ian Gillian of Deep Purple, Thomas Rhett, and Carrie Underwood. As a producer, he has notched multiple number 1’s for Maddie & Tae, Scotty McCreery, and HARDY and Lainey Wilson.

He is a multiple CMA, ACM and Music Row award winner. In 2016, he was the youngest person in history to win The Academy of Country Music’s Guitar Player of the Year Award.

In addition to playing and producing, Wells is the Vice President of A&R for Spirit Music Group’s nashville publishing office overseeing their roster of writers and artists.
