Wang Chung
The London-based duo Wang Chung, formed by Nick Feldman and Jack Hues, rose to prominence in the early ’80s, quickly making waves with their infectious hit “Dance Hall Days.” The track not only charted in the UK but also caught fire in the US, leading to a string of successful releases. Their follow-up hit, “Don’t Let Go,” solidified their presence on both sides of the Atlantic, and the duo began focusing on growing their fanbase in the US.
In 1985, Wang Chung expanded their influence beyond the music charts, contributing the evocative title track and score to the William Friedkin thriller *To Live and Die in L.A.*, further cementing their place in pop culture. However, it was their 1986 album *Mosaic* that propelled them into the upper echelons of international stardom, with chart-topping hits like “Let’s Go!” and the iconic “Everybody Have Fun Tonight.” The latter became an anthem of the ’80s, and the band’s signature sound—characterized by a blend of catchy hooks and synth-driven melodies—resonated with fans worldwide.
As the decade closed, Wang Chung continued their success with “Praying To A New God” from their *The Warmer Side of Cool* album, which charted on Billboard. This track, along with their earlier hits, solidified Wang Chung’s legacy as one of Britain’s most successful musical exports.
Recently, Nick and Jack have released a brand-new album under the Wang Chung moniker, staying true to their roots with crunchy guitars, memorable hooks, and a mix of jazz and electronica influences. The duo has been actively touring, bringing their timeless sound to both long-time fans and new listeners.
