Spirit/Fluid, the Nashville-based joint venture between Spirit Music Group and Frank Rogers’ Fluid Music Revolution has renewed an exclusive publishing deal with Derek George.

Derek George is a Grammy-nominated musician with hits spanning across three decades as a songwriter, producer and publisher. Derek has had over 100 “cuts”. He has worked in almost every facet of the industry; managing his own recording studio, being an accomplished session singer and guitarist, writing hit songs, producing major record label releases and, running an independent publishing company. In the last decade Derek has produced eight top 10 hits, with five of those topping out at #1. Derek George has had eight singles released to country radio as a songwriter in the same six-year span. He celebrated his third #1 as a writer with Darius Rucker’s hit single “For the First Time.” He currently has the Frank Ray radio single “Country’d Look Good On You” which is Top 20 on the Country singles chart and climbing. Derek George also co-wrote five of the six tracks on Frank Ray’s upcoming EP releasing on August 12th. He also has upcoming releases with Darius Rucker, Chris Young, and Lainey Wilson.
As a producer, Derek George produced Randy Houser’s How Country Feels Album which yielded 4 top 5 Singles (“How Country Feels” #1, “Running Outta’ Moonlight” #1, “Goodnight Kiss” #1, and “Like a Cowboy” #3) along with the lead single off Houser’s follow up album Fired Up (“We Went” #1). He produced Joe Nichols’ comeback hit “Sunny And 75” #1. He co-wrote Jerrod Niemann’s #1 comeback hit “Drink To That All Night”. He also produced and co- Chase Bryant’s “Little Bit of You” #3 and “Room To Breathe.”
Derek has had songs recorded by Blake Shelton, Bryan White, Randy Houser, Diamond Rio, Rascal Flatts, Brantley Gilbert, Jerrod Niemann, Jennifer Nettles, Trace Adkins, Miley Cyrus, Wynonna, Chase Bryant, Drake White, and Hootie And the Blowfish, among others.
The deal with Derek George follows a banner year by the Spirit Music Nashville and Spirit/Fluid team—over the past year, 70% of Spirit Music Nashville’s current writer roster has had at least one charted single. This includes nine #1 singles, ten Top 10 singles, and 11 Top 30 songs in 2021 as well as ACM Single of the Year “I Hope You’re Happy Now” – Carly Pearce and Lee Brice (via Jonathan Singleton) and Album of the Year Starting Over by Chris Stapleton. The company also publishes Music Row’s Song of the Year, “Hell of a View” – Eric Church (via Monty Criswell). The company received four CMA nominations for Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year and took home six ASCAP Country awards. Spirit Music Nashville/Spirit Fluid writer Frank Ray earned the title of being most added song on country radio by a new artist (by impact day) driven by his single “Country Looks Good On You” (the song was also produced by Frank Rogers who is a multi-platinum producer/songwriter in his own right with 43 #1 hits, 75+ Top 20 songs and multiple RIAA certified multi-Platinum/Platinum/Gold records to his list of production/songwriting credits). The company also has a publishing interest in the top two country songs of the decade and top two country albums of the decade with “Meant To Be” and “Body Like A Backroad” and Traveller/Chris Stapleton and Montevallo/Sam Hunt.
