Hit songwriter Cale Dodds has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Spirit Music Nashville/Fluid Music Revolution. Dodds recently had his first #1 as a writer with Chase Rice (feat. Florida Georgia Line) “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen”
(co-written by Cale Dodds, Chase Rice, Corey Crowder and Hunter Phelps and produced by Rice, Crowder and Florida Georgia Line). Dodds’ deal encompasses an administration deal for his catalog as well as a go forward publishing deal with Spirit/Fluid.
After making a splash in the Nashville songwriting community with the single, “(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial”- A Thousand Horses (#23 Country Airplay), Dodds pinned his first, two week number one song, “Drinkin’ Beer, Talkin’ God, Amen”- Chase Rice, ft. Florida Georgia Line. Dodds, who has been writing songs since the age of 12, has also had a hand in writing songs for Film & TV as well as writing for other artists such as Cassadee Pope, Filmore, Lit and many more.
“Spirit and Fluid are very excited to partner with Cale Dodds on this next chapter of his career. Cale is a gifted, hardworking singer-songewriter with an unlimited future ahead of him. We are looking forward to having loads of success and a heck of a lot of fun together!” said Frank Rogers, CEO, Spirit Music Nashville.
“Cale and I have known each other since he moved to Nashville,” said AJ Burton, Vice President, Fluid Music Revolution. “I have always been a fan of his writing, talent and drive to win!! It’s an honor that he chose to partner with Spirit and Fluid, these next several years are gonna be fun!”
“Starting a new partnership at Fluid/Spirit is a full-circle moment for me,” said Cale Dodds. “Almost every person in that building has played some kind of role in my story and feels like family. I feel more inspired than ever to write songs and I am grateful to start this new chapter with a powerhouse team of people who understand who I am as a creative and share the same vision for the music.”
Though Dodds is currently focused on songwriting with his new team at Spirit Music Nashville/Fluid Music Revolution, he is a former Warner Music Nashville artist. The Georgia native moved to Nashville in 2011 and immediately hit the road, touring with artists such as Sam Hunt, Brett Eldredge, Billy Currington, and Chase Rice; his energetic live show is rooted in Rock-n-Roll with a country soul. Before signing his first major label deal with Warner Music Nashville, he independently racked up more than 30 million digital streams by touring the country putting facetime in front of audiences, earning fans the old fashioned way.
Rolling Stone named Cale Dodds one of their “New Country Artists You Need To Know.” CMT Listen Up revealed him as one of their “18 for 2018” class members—a year-long campaign that spotlights “country music’s most promising newcomers.” Billboard magazine named Dodds’ CMA Fest performance one of the best shows to see and was named a “Top Artist to Watch” by Pandora.
The deal with Dodds follows a banner year by the Spirit Music Nashville team—over the past year, 70% of Spirit Music Nashville’s current writer roster has had at least one charted single.
This includes nine #1 singles, ten Top 10 singles, and 11 Top 30 songs in 2021 as well as ACM Single of the Year “I Hope You’re Happy Now” – Carly Pearce and Lee Brice (via Jonathan Singleton) and Album of the Year Starting Over by Chris Stapleton. The company also publishes Music Row’s Song of the Year, “Hell of a View” – Eric Church (via Monty Criswell). The company received four CMA nominations for Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year and took home six ASCAP Country awards. Spirit Music Nashville/Spirit Fluid writer Frank Ray earned the title of being most added song on country radio by a new artist (by impact day) driven by his single “Country Looks Good On You” (the song was also produced by Spirit Music Nashville CEO, Frank Rogers who is a multi-platinum producer/songwriter in his own right with 43 #1 hits, 75+ Top 20 songs and multiple RIAA certified multi-Platinum/Platinum/Gold records to his list of production/songwriting credits). The company also has a publishing interest in the top two country songs of the decade and top two country albums of the decade with “Meant To Be” and “Body Like A Backroad” and Traveller/Chris Stapleton and Montevallo/Sam Hunt.
