Adam Chaffins has signed a worldwide publishing deal with Spirit Music Nashville/Fluid Music Revolution as announced today by Frank Rogers, Chief Creative Officer, Spirit Music Group/CEO, Spirit Music Nashville. Chaffins is a multi-talented singer/songwriter and instrumentalist who grew up along the hallowed grounds of Kentucky’s famed Country Music Highway U.S. 23, where country music storytelling runs deep. Spanning seven counties, the U.S. 23 territory claims to have produced more hit country artists per capita than any other region, including Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, The Judds, Chris Stapleton, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ricky Skaggs, Keith Whitley, Dwight Yoakam and Patty Loveless. A talented songwriter and instrumentalist in his own right, Adam Chaffins has roots buried deep in country music soil, while creating his own distinctly unique lane of songwriting and artistry.
“My passion has always been to create,” said Adam Chaffins. “I came to Nashville for the chance to work with the best of the best, so signing with Spirit Music Nashville/Fluid Music is truly a dream come true. I’m so excited for this next chapter of my career and for the opportunity to work with one of the most talented and experienced music publishing companies in the business.”
“Adam is already a well respected musician and singer in the Americana community, and we believe he’s truly untapped in the mainstream Country genre. Adam brings a true uniqueness in his musicality to the Spirit/Fluid team. Raised in Eastern Kentucky on Appalachian music and classically trained in jazz, his style of Country is smart, honest, and truly authentic,” said Mike Fiorentino, Director of A&R/Production, Spirit Music Nashville.
“Adam is a special talent. Not only does he play multiple instruments, but his creative lyrics are a breath of fresh air,” said AJ Burton, Vice President, Fluid Music Revolution. “We are thrilled to be in the Adam Chaffins business and can’t wait for the world to hear Adam’s artistry and his songwriting abilities.”
A product of culturally rich eastern Kentucky, Adam Chaffins has always been about music. He started early in middle school, fronting and playing bass in a band, and followed with scholarship opportunities resulting in a music degree. After a move to Tennessee, he quickly found his traction as a songwriter and in-demand session musician, alternating that with a life on the road as a member of various bands, including several years with the revolutionary bluegrass band Town Mountain and as vocalist and bassist for Rounder Records’ The Deadly Gentlemen.
Chaffins, who prides himself on embracing every kind of style from country and folk to pop and rock, makes an effort to never limit his songwriting. He released his debut album, Some Things Won’t Last in 2020 followed by singles “Further Away” (Acoustic) and “Now I Don’t Know,” both being featured on places such as Spotify’s Indigo playlist.
The deal with Chaffins follows a banner year by the Spirit Music Nashville team—over the past year, 70% of Spirit Music Nashville’s current writer roster has had at least one charted single.
This includes nine #1 singles, ten Top 10 singles, and 11 Top 30 songs in 2021 as well as ACM Single of the Year “I Hope You’re Happy Now” – Carly Pearce and Lee Brice (via Jonathan Singleton) and Album of the Year Starting Over by Chris Stapleton. The company also publishes Music Row’s Song of the Year, “Hell of a View” – Eric Church (via Monty Criswell). The company received four CMA nominations for Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year and took home six ASCAP Country awards. Spirit Music Nashville/Spirit Fluid writer Frank Ray earned the title of being most added song on country radio by a new artist (by impact day) driven by his single “Country Looks Good On You” (the song was also produced by Spirit Music Nashville CEO, Frank Rogers who is a multi-platinum producer/songwriter in his own right with 43 #1 hits, 75+ Top 20 songs and multiple RIAA certified multi-Platinum/Platinum/Gold records to his list of production/songwriting credits). The company also has a publishing interest in the top two country songs of the decade and top two country albums of the decade with “Meant To Be” and “Body Like A Backroad” and Traveller/Chris Stapleton and Montevallo/Sam Hunt.
