Spirit Music Nashville today announced that Kennedy Murphy and Andy Hodges have joined the team as Creative Coordinators. In their new roles Murphy and Hodges will be focused on support for the creative staff and assisting Spirit’s roster of songwriters.
Wilmington, Delaware native, Kennedy Murphy, made her way to Nashville after earning a Music Business degree from Drexel University. While studying, Kennedy’s love for songs and artist development was solidified during her time interning at Big Deal Music in New York City. After graduation, Kennedy landed her first publishing job working as A&R/Creative Coordinator at Back Blocks Music. Andy Hodges grew up in Manhattan, Kansas. During his time at Belmont he spent time interning at Full Stop Management, Azoff Company, and Live Nation. After graduating from Belmont in 2019,Andy began his career working in the music business on the revenue operations team at Global Music Rights in Los Angeles. Andy moved back to Nashville, TN in 2022 and joined Spirit Music Nashville as a creative coordinator where he works to support Spirit songwriters and creative staff. Lainey Wilson (co-produced by Derek Wells); ACM Album of the Year nominees Growing Up – Luke Combs (co-produced by Jonathan Singleton with four Spirit cuts); Bell Bottom Country – Lainey Wilson (three Spirit cuts); “Cold As You” – Luke Combs (via Jonathan Singleton), “Handle On You” – Parker McCollum (via Monthy Criswell). Spirit Music Nashville just received an AIMP Song of the Year award for “You Should Probably Leave (performed by Chris Stapleton). Spirit’s roster took home the ACM 2022 Song of the Year with “Things a Man Oughta Know” – Lainey Wilson (via Jonathan Singleton); the ACM Album of the Year with Dangerous: The Double Album – Morgan Wallen (via Dave Cohen); and Male Artist of the Year went to Chris Stapleton. Spirit’s Brinley Addington and Cale Dodds were both nominees for the 2022 MusicRow Award for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year. “You Should Probably Leave” (via Chris Stapleton and Chris DuBois) was nominated for CMA Song of the Year and Single of the Year in 2022. “Things A Man Oughta Know” – Lainey Wilson (via Jonathan Singleton) was also nominated for CMA Song of the Year in 2022. The company also has a publishing interest in the top two country songs of the decade and top two country albums of the decade with “Meant To Be” and “Body Like A Backroad” and Traveller/Chris Stapleton and Montevallo/Sam Hunt.
