Artist/songwriter Tim Montana has renewed his deal with Spirit Music Nashville. Tim Montana commented: “These guys should have dropped me a dozen times but they rolled with me through it all and in the bottom of the ninth (year) we hit one out of the park. Stoked to keep rocking with the Spirit team and now we get to shake up the rock world! A marriage with a publisher that long can be tough for artists, but when the noises in the studio are getting louder that’s a good sign of things to come.”
Frank Rogers, Chief Creative Office, Spirit Music Group/CEO, Spirit Music Nashville commented: “Tim Montana is truly a one-of-a-kind human being and artist. We are excited to keep the party going with the Ol’ Boy! Y’all get ready for what’s next – it’s going to melt your face off!”
Tim Montana taught himself to play guitar by candlelight in an off-the-grid trailer powered by a faulty generator where he lived with his family in Butte, Montana. After a stint at the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, and his return to Montana, Tim’s unique blend of rock and country (his sound can be described as unapologetic, hillbilly rock) found an enthusiastic following.
It was during one of his performances in 2007 that Tim Montana got his first break—David Letterman was in the audience and personally invited Tim to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman a few months later. At 21-years-old, Tim then settled in Music City and formed his band the Shrednecks, establishing himself as a live performer.
During a studio session in 2013, Montana was introduced to ZZ Top founder Billy F. Gibbons (who also recently signed to Spirit Music Nashville). Their meeting resulted in an impromptu songwriting collaboration, during which the two co-wrote and recorded the single “This Beard Came Here to Party.” The song became an anthem for 2013 World Series champion Boston Red Sox, and the video for “This Beard” became the most viewed video on the MLB and Red Sox websites throughout the World Series. The song also became an anthem for the Nashville Predators during the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Montana and Gibbons would go on to share credits on three other songs: “Fifty Fifty,” “Weed and Whiskey,” and “Rust and Red.” Gibbons invited Montana to open for ZZ Top on tour and Tim Montana and the Shrednecks continued to open for ZZ Top and Kid Rock throughout the summer of 2016. Tim Montana released the album Tim Montana and the Shrednecks, featuring Gibbons on four tracks.
Tim Montana’s unrelenting hustle and rigorous touring schedule has captivated a devout global fanbase, dropping successful independent albums, selling out shows, and earning the endorsement of childhood heroes such as Dave Grohl. He co-wrote radio hits for musical collaborator Kid Rock such as “Tennessee Mountain Top” and “Greatest Show On Earth” for 2017’s Sweet Southern Sugar—which bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Charlie Sheen espoused his admiration for Tim on social media and wound up directing the music video for “Mostly Stoned.”
In 2020, Tim signed a record deal with award-winning producer Michael Knox and Music Knox Records/BBR Music Group which is part of the BMG Rights Management family.
In addition to his music career, Montana has his own show, “Tim Montana’s Wild Side,” on Velocity Outdoor Channel. Tim Montana is a true Renaissance man, moonlighting as a TV personality, CDL licensed driver, marksman, father, husband, foodie, hot sauce connoisseur, hell-raiser and businessman. He is also involved in products including Polaris, Black Rifle Coffee, Fender, Gerber, Giant Bicycles, Indian Motorcycles, K&N, Kicker Performance Audio, Orange Amplifiers, Snap On, Traeger Grills and more.
Montana is a vocal supporter of U.S. military veterans. In July 2023, Tim Montana presented and headlined his inaugural American Thread benefit concert event featuring Special Ops Xcursions, a nonprofit that supports U.S. special operations forces and their families. For the past three years, Montana has headed up Tim Montana & Friends American Thread Sporting Clays Shoot in Nashville, drawing celebs and generating nearly one million dollars since its inception to benefit active-duty soldiers, veterans and their families.
